Not a complaint, just some thoughts about life and art..

I have the best intentions sometimes and when they go wrong… I feel like the worst failure. Ever feel that way? That is the biggest challenge of my life I think… forgiving myself and not hating myself for something I’m incapable of completing in a moment. I just want to be Superwoman, damn it! But patience and self acceptance are key. Maintaining balance and a positive outlook in and of itself is an art form. Choosing to stay kind to others despite our pain and issues is once again, an art form. In fact, the way we think, perceive, and deliver info is indeed a very intricate form of art itself as well!… All art starts in our consciousness. Only then can we transfer it through different mediums. So literally, art begins in the way we think and live.

I need a break from California, from the LA “version” of artistry, from it all. Until I find other artists that I can relate to in LA I just don’t see how I can even continue to pursue doing what I love here. I feel like an alien here bcuz my artistic ideas go above and beyond just being “hot”, “part of a scene”, or one-upping someone else. I have to deal with people telling me daily to dumb myself down by joining some sort of “clique” or that I should change something about myself. I am told in order to be successful I need to attend parties, clubs, VIP status events… Then I am somehow accepted? Nononononono. Unless it feels in alignment with my artistry, I do not attend events of any kind just for status expectations. BLARGH, no thanks. That is not art, that is high school.

Surely, there are other artists out there who get this side of it all, who see deeper into their artistry than just their reflection in the mirror and how many cool “things” they own.

A lot of ppl are still so seemingly distracted by the aesthetic and worth of all things so luxurious…. Really? It is 2013 and there is just so much more to art now. Honestly, why has ‘luxury’ and ‘status’ outweighed the true ‘meaning’ of being an artist again? Shouldn’t that have been left in the horrific clutches of that bitch we all know as 2012?? ;P

It’s like so many people are still in an ego trance desiring approval, money, status, fame, and THINGS… things things things…. MATERIAL…. but for what??? WE DIE WITHOUT ANY OF IT.

Where did the TRUE artists go?!
I’m just not satisfied with the ego gratification of it all. I want to create art 24/7 and I don’t care who knows or who approves, ykno? In fact, sometimes I regret ever signing up to online social media. Something about it has destroyed originality in my perception. I see copies of copies everywhere now. Uninspired. I watch social media hurt and harm so many OG artists. I watch amazing, unique artists just end up looking and acting like everyone else after awhile and oh man, that is gut wrenching. I watch amazing artists I know get the short end of the stick bcuz they don’t sellout to big corp. That is the worst. Generally the outcasts, the loners, and the TRUE artists get left in the dust and unnoticed while untalented, spoiled rich kids get handed an overnight career. In fact, I think it’s a joke that you have to be in ANY scene to get respect as a young artist nowadays. I think that’s just Hollywood, though. In fact, DUH. Hollywood does and always will take the cake of pushing plastic product as some kind of “art”.

Whatever the case, that is NOT true artistry imo. I think quite a few of us still need to pull our head out of our…………. and in many ways.

Art is my passion and I just want to be around like minded people. I need to recharge my artistic batteries and I need to be around people who are creating art for the RIGHT reasons. Making money is fine, and sure, necessary. But I am more so referring to people’s attitude. Art is not just about how hot you turn out in photos, or your hair color of the week. Art is not about what projects you’ve done and how known you are. Art is not about constantly bragging about success and bookings. Art is about raising consciousness. It’s about inspiration and acknowledging those who inspire you the most as well. If you try to hide anything about your artistry then your artistry is not based in truth. And if you constantly make your artistry about YOU, your bookings, your success, your accomplishments, then what the heck are you REALLY creating for others? If it’s just about YOU, how is that art? Art is about the world, not just the person creating it.

Let’s do more, create more, and with more meaning. Make your art about someone or something else today. Free yourself from the prison of yourself. Post about how your art represents something so much bigger than just all of this!
